Dr. Shashibhushan S. Varekar is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with focused expertise in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery. With strong academic grounding and extensive hands-on surgical training, he is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based spine care while prioritising patient safety, recovery, and long-term function.
Dr. Varekar completed his MBBS from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute and pursued his MS in Orthopaedics from Grant Government Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai—one of India’s most rigorous orthopedic training centres. Following this, he served as a Senior Resident at Rajiv Gandhi Medical College and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Thane, gaining comprehensive exposure to complex trauma and spine cases.
Driven by a strong interest in spine surgery, he undertook advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Delhi, under senior spine surgeons, followed by an intensive two-year clinical spine fellowship at The Spine Foundation, working closely with Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj across leading tertiary hospitals in Mumbai. He further refined his skill set through an endoscopic spine fellowship, developing expertise in minimally invasive spine techniques.
